Four Corners (2014)

Fatherless and raised by his grandmother, thirteen year old Ricardo Galam lives in the Cape Flats, a culture dominated by two Number gangs, the 26 and 28. Ricardo's future as a chess prodigy is threatened by his growing interest in the 26 whose local leader is grooming him as a potential member. Unknown to Ricardo, the father he's never known is released from prison. A reformed general in the 28, he’s back in his old neighbourhood, an intruder in 26 territory.

The Endless River (2015)

Trapped in a cycle of violence and bloodshed, they form an unlikely bond seeking to transcend their mutual anger, pain and loneliness.

Necktie Youth (2015)

In a haze of drugs and economic privilege, two middle class guys, September (played by Sibs Shongwe-La Mer) and Jabz (Bonko Khoza) embark on a self-destructive bender driving across Joburg in a borrowed Jaguar. The film, which has been likened to Larry Clark’s Kids and the early work of African American filmmaker Spike Lee, has been described by one critic “as the first really distinctive cinematic voice to emerge from a generation of young South Africans to whom the country’s post-democratic history is largely a second-hand abstraction”.

Love the One You Love (2015)

In a riot of colour accompanied by a pulsing and haunting soundtrack from Ross Dorkin of SAMA-winning band, Beatenberg, Love the One You Love is set in Cape Town, and follows three characters who “start to suspect that there’s a conspiracy afoot to to keep them in—and out—of love.” The film, shot on a shoestring budget, is entirely improvised with stunning performances by Chi Mhendi (Terri—a Phone sex operator), Andile Nebulane (Sandile—a dog Handler} and Louw Venter (Eugene—a lonely IT technician).

Tokio Hotel – Monsoon (2007)

The music video for the German version of “Monsoon”, which features a stage looking like it was shot underwater, was filmed in Cape Town. It features scenes of the band in  Bell UH-1 Huey helicopter and then free falling and landing on the ground. After they land, the band members walk to a stage (although scenes of them on the stage are already shown before the free fall scene) and start performing.
